Pupils Celebrate Positivity on World Mental Health Day

Reynolds Academy pupils wore something yellow to promote positivity on World Mental Health Day.

Children at Reynolds Academy showed their support for World Mental Health Day in a blaze of sunshine yellow.

Pupils and staff were invited to wear an item of yellow clothing in support of World Mental Health Day, in association with Young Minds. The nationwide 'Hello Yellow' initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of mental health in children and young people. This year, the charity called on the Government to limit the long-term impacts of the coronavirus pandemic on young people's mental health.

The children enjoyed a variety of different lessons and activities focusing on feelings and emotions and the support they can provide to others.

Principal Rebecca Scott said: "Lockdown has had a devastating effect on children’s mental health. It has been a difficult time for everyone but our children have missed out on so much. We wanted to show our children that it is alright to feel anxious or worried, but to know that there are people who they can talk to and share their worries with."

Smiles all round as pupils celebrate diversity on World Mental Health Day.
