Pupils Learn Strategies for Mental Well-Being

Kirsty Sanderson, Compass Go Supervising Practitioner, teaches Reynolds Academy pupils some strategies for mental well-being.

Tackling anxiety was at the heart of a presentation at Reynolds Academy on mental well-being.

Compass Go, the mental health support team, visited the Academy to talk to all pupils in KS1 and KS2 about what mental well-being is, how this affects us and how to keep mentally healthy.

Kirsty Sanderson, Supervising Practitioner, taught the pupils ‘the five ways to wellbeing,’ which included simple strategies to deal with low mood and anxiety.

Kirsty also got pupils and staff to practice breathing and grounding techniques which could be used in myriad situations to bring calm and inward reflection. The children found the session fun and enjoyable.
