Introducing… Collins class!

We would like to introduce our Reception class, Collins!

Collins class is named after Michael Collins, who was an astronaut onboard Apollo 11.

Pupils Jax and Perrin said: “Collins is an astronaut and they went to the moon!”

Our reception class teachers are Mrs Burley and Mrs Shreeve.

Teacher Mrs Burley said: “I am really proud to be a part of Collins class because it’s fantastic to give our children high aspirations for the future, such as, becoming an astronaut just like Michael Collins.”

Fleur (5) said: “Michael Collins kept the spaceship flying around the moon.”

Winnie (4) said: “We made a rocket like they went on.”

Mrs Burley added: “We really enjoyed learning about Michael Collins and his trip to the moon, particularly that he was the person trusted with keeping the spaceship in motion whilst the other two astronauts went on the moon.”

The children are often found playing teachers and appear to be inspired by the adults in their classroom.

Our teachers commented that, “it’s lovely to hear them playing and reciting what they have been learning.”

Our Collins class love to learn. Mrs Shreeve described how very proud she is of their hard work and effort during their learning time and the children impress her regularly with their knowledge!

The class are very creative and one of the busiest areas in the classroom is the craft area. Staff are blown away by their creativity.

4-year-old Delilah-Belle said: “I love Collins class!”

Each class at Reynolds Academy is named after an inspirational person. Throughout the school year, we will be introducing each class to you to explain why we chose this inspirational person and what we do in our lessons.
